The Soap Opera Star in all of us

So I know that I said my next post would be based around To Be Or Not To Be...A Bridesmaid, but I felt obligated to update about the engagement photo session that we had today.  So...good news...it didn't rain..apparently the wedding gods are not out to get us after all....phew!

So first of all, let me say that our wedding photogs are awesome!  They get it all...lighting, shutter speeds, angles, props and are fantastic directors for "novice models"...which lets be honest, is what we all are during wedding time.  They were supportive, encouraging and basically made me believe I had the stuff to go shoot a compelling perfume spread!

But after a couple hours of trekking through a field, I still can't answer the question "what do I do with these pictures?"  I was just at an Oscar party with my parents and the best answer I could come up with was, "keep them so we have a remembrance of how attractive we once were".

Are they the basis for tales that our 60-year-old selves will tell our 20-something children of how we abandoned a potentially lucrative career in staring longingly off in to the distance to have a family?  Will we print them out and post them all over our house to remind visitors that a professional makeup artist and a can of hair spray (all me) ups the anty on how photogenic we can be?

Anyways, we did it because...well that's what you do now a days.  Its part of the package, so you don't ask questions, you just set the date and show up.  I enjoyed the experience and well...maybe that's enough.  Maybe the purpose is just that...feeling like a supermodel and the "purpose" of the pictures is to get a couple frame-"able" shots to display and the rest are a treasure chest of memories.

Regardless, the crazy bride had no hesitations of transforming into a "model" bride for a couple hours.

Ahhh...the nonsensical whims and actions of the crazy bride.

Cheers!

The sky is falling...

So its going to rain in California this weekend....should be a good thing right?   I guess, if you're a snowboarder that mean some sweet powder or if your an environmentalist your happy about the water table or people staying off the roads, so less carbon emissions, but for a bride this particular rain means canceled engagement photos....again.

Now I am not a superstitious person, nor do I tend to listen to the signs that the universe tends to throw my ways, but it NEVER rains in L.A. and this is the second time that I will have to reschedule these photos due to weather.  Is that a bad omen?  Is the crazy bride destined to be the soggy bride on her wedding day?  I'd like to think that I am a glass have full kind of person, but is my optimism a downfall in this case?  Should I be thinking about reserving tents for the big day and maybe spending less effort on looking for the perfect ribbon to tie on my programs?

Also, engagement photos....can we talk about that?  When exactly did it become a need to sit down with a professional photographer before the wedding to capture you and your honey looking like you're in a perfume ad?  I never knew that I would desire to stand in a field with a distant soap opera look on my face and now I sit concerned that it will be less of a golden field and more of a mud wrestling pit.

Ahhh...the nonsensical whims and thoughts of the crazy bride.

Next week - To Be or Not To Be....A Bridesmaid

Cheers!
